About me

Emma Rayner is a Vascular Nurse Consultant at Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals. Emma graduated in the 1990's from UCLH and the Middlesex School of Nursing and her first job was on a Vascular ward, the original plan was to work within Vascular for 6 months and move on to Cardiology however Emmas passion for Vascular Nursing had been stirred and 30 years later it is still her chosen speciality. Emma moved to Colchester in 1998 and began work at Colchester Hospital shortly after, becoming a Vascular Nurse Specialist in 2002 and a Nurse Consultant in 2018. Over this period Emma has overseen the growth of the nursing department from one nurse to 6 and 2 podiatrist offering a variety of specialist clinical services to both inpatients and outpatients.

Throughout her career Emma has been involved in research and quality improvement in nursing care, has co-authored several publications and is Non - medical prescriber. Emma runs independent clinics and has a special interest in wound care - ulcers of all types but especially the diabetic foot and care of patients with Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm. Emma has a genuine care for patients and a passion for nursing and considers herself lucky to have found a job she loves.
